The Development of the Pointe-Noire SEZ Entrusted to the Codimex Group

A major player in the construction and public works sector in the Republic of Congo and Africa, the MBTP company, which belongs to the Codimex group, has been entrusted with the development works as part of the construction of the Pointe-Noire Special Economic Zone (SEZ).

The works that have commenced in Pointe-Noire are being conducted by a multidisciplinary team of 300 people. MBTP emphasized that it would deliver the works within eight months.

It should be noted that the Pointe-Noire SEZ is the result of a public-private partnership concluded in June 2022 between Congo and the company Arise IIP, which operates in Gabon, Benin, and Togo. Specializing in the design, financing, and development of industrial platforms, it is also responsible for developing the Ouesso SEZ.

It was last November that the Head of State, Denis Sassou N’Guesso, launched the works in Loango on the site where this SEZ will be erected, the first phase of which will be completed within two years.

This program aims to attract foreign direct investments estimated at one billion dollars, of which 150 million will be dedicated to the development of the industrial ecosystem. The first phase is expected to be completed within two years according to estimates, and efforts to attract investors have already begun.

Founded in 1985 and ISO 9001 certified, the MBTP company has thirty-six years of experience in the construction sector, ranging from project design to execution and operation. Its main assets lie in the variety and diversification of its services, its significant fleet of public works machinery and heavy trucks, including its own on-site maintenance garages, a large stock of raw materials, as well as its two concrete batching plants, all located on its two operational bases in Brazzaville (83,000m²) and Pointe-Noire (80,000m²).

The construction of the Pointe-Noire Special Economic Zone will actively contribute to the industrialization of Congo and will support the efforts undertaken as part of the National Development Program 2022-2026.
